Bruck's Fourth Weekly Honor Closes Out the Regular-Season

PARK RIDGE, Ill. -- Junior Lindsey Bruck (Marietta, N.Y./Marcellus) of the University of Michigan women’s gymnastics team earned her fourth Big Ten Gymnast of the Week honor this year, announced by the conference office on Wednesday (March 22).

Bruck was named Big Ten Gymnast of the Week in consecutive weeks (Jan.18 and Jan. 25) and then picked up her third honor of the season on Feb. 22. Last week, Bruck closed out the regular-season with her third all-around title of the year, posting a 39.375, while also winning her third beam title of the 2006 season with a season-high tying 9.900 against in-state rival Michigan State. Bruck finished among the top five in every event but vault, posting her second best all-around score of the season in Michigan's 23rd-straight Big Ten Conference victory. Bruck has now earned six individual event awards in 2006 as well as three all-around crowns.

Bruck has six weekly accolades in her career after twice being named conference gymnast of the week in 2005. Freshman Tatjana Thuener-Rego (Miami,Fla./American) and senior Jenny Deiley (Dayton, Minn./Elk River) have also earned weekly honors for the Wolverines this season, bringing the Wolverines’ 2006 total to six weekly honors. Michigan tied a Big Ten record with seven gymnast of the week honors in 2005, led by three from Elise Ray (2001-05) and two each for Deiley and Bruck.

U-M looks to capture its 14th Big Ten Championships title and its conference-record eighth-straight crown at the Big Ten Championships Saturday (March 25) in East Lansing, Mich. The meet is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start.
