Gym Dogs Win SEC Title
Junior Kelsey Ericksen posts
all-around victory
BIRMINGHAM, Ala.-----
Top-ranked Georgia notched
its third consecutive
Southeastern Conference
Championship and 15th
overall with a score of
197.275 in front of 7,607 on
Saturday night at the BJCC
Arena.
Fifth-ranked Alabama
finished in second place
196.975, followed by No. 3
Florida (196.275), No. 8 LSU
(195.9), No. 14 Auburn
(194.975), No. 19 Arkansas
(195.9) and No. 18 Kentucky
(191.15).
Junior Kelsey Ericksen led
Georgia the entire night,
earning a victory in the
individual all-around with a
season-high 39.625. Ericksen
won the vault by tying her
career high of 9.925. She
tied for first place on bars
and floor with a 9.9 and
9.95, respectively. Her
9.95 on the floor exercise
tied a career high.
Gym Dog freshman Courtney
Kupets tied Ericksen for the
win on the bars at 9.9.
A nation’s best 49.6 on the
floor exercise catapulted
Georgia to the win in its
third rotation. On that
event five Gym Dogs scored a
9.9 or better from the
lineup.
Georgia is off next week and
will host the NCAA Southeast
Regional competition on
April 8 at 6 p.m. in
Stegeman Coliseum.
