PERRY JUST MISSES ALL-AMERICA HONORS AT NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS
Freshman finishes ninth on the balance beam

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Freshman Adrianne Perry narrowly missed becoming Missouri’s third gymnastics All-American at the Session I of the 2006 NCAA Championships Thursday afternoon with a ninth-place finish on the balance beam. She also finished 14th in the all-around with a 39.050, which was the second-highest all-around score at nationals by a Tiger gymnast in program history.

“Adrianne did a great job today,” said Missouri head coach Rob Drass. “I’m very proud of her performance here. This was an intimidating setting but she handled it very well. It was a great way to end our season and I am hopefully looking forward to seeing her back here the next few years.”

Paired with familiar foe Nebraska for the meet, Perry opened her competition in the second rotation with a 9.750 on bars, which placed her 29th on the event. She then moved to beam and recorded a 9.800 to tie her for ninth place but just missed All-America honors as the top eight gymnasts on each event earn the distinction.

After a bye in the third rotation, Perry continued her solid afternoon with a 9.825 on floor to tie for 17th. She concluded the meet with a 9.675 on vault to post a 39.050 in the all-around, which was good for 14th place.
